Overview & history
Truc Lam Hau Giang Zen Monastery stands at the Vinh Tuong junction in Vinh Tuong ward, Long My town, Hau Giang province. It follows the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen school founded by King Tran Nhan Tong, a tradition deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture.
History
The monastery was inaugurated in 2018 after more than three years of construction, with 16 building complexes on over 4 hectares and an investment of about 300 billion VND. It serves as the place of practice for more than 250 clergy, monks and nuns of the region.
Architecture
The complex follows the Buddhist artistic style of the Ly and Tran dynasties, comprising a three-entrance gate, main hall, patriarch house, an open-air Avalokitesvara statue, a shrine to Mother Au Co, bell and drum towers, lecture and dining halls, a library and monastic quarters. Red-tiled roofs, ironwood columns and brick-paved paths make it a spiritual-tourism landmark of Hau Giang province.

- Dress modestly; remove hats and keep quiet inside the main hall.
- Incense, flowers and offerings are usually sold right outside the gate; light an odd number of sticks (1 or 3).
- Most pagodas open from early morning to evening and are free to enter (some major sites charge a small scenic fee).
- Full-moon days, the 1st of the lunar month and Tet are very crowded; visit on weekday mornings for a quiet experience.
- Ask permission before photographing inside shrines; do not touch statues or altar objects.
