Thái Lạc Pagoda
Hưng Yên(Chùa Thái Lạc)

Overview & history
Thái Lạc Pagoda is located in Như Quỳnh commune, Hưng Yên province. The pagoda belongs to the Tứ Pháp (Four Dharmas) pagoda system, worshipping the Buddha and Pháp Vân. The pagoda is famous for its carved wooden panels from the Trần dynasty.
History
The pagoda was built during the Lý dynasty and is one of the rare places in all of Vietnam that still preserves a truss in the central chamber of the upper hall, which is Trần dynasty architecture; apart from Thái Lạc Pagoda, this can only be found at Dâu Pagoda and Bối Khê Pagoda. The carving on the wooden truss of the pagoda depicts the celestial maiden Càn Thát Bà, one of the Eight Legions of Devas and Nāgas (Thiên Long Bát Bộ) in Buddhism.
The pagoda's jade genealogy records the second year of Đại Định, 1162, during the reign of Lý Nhân Tông. The genealogy clearly records the event of the Four Dharmas at Luy Lâu, which occurred during the reign of Emperor Hán Linh Đế (168–189 CE).
In 1673, the pagoda underwent major restoration.
In 1964, the pagoda was recognised as a national and provincial-level historical monument.
